Go Higher! GLORIFYING GOD IN CONFLICT, 1 Corinthians 10:31
Conflict allows us an opportunity to glorify God, that is, to bring him praise and honor by imitating Him, laying down our "rights," forgiving, and loving sacrificially. This is necessary for Biblical peace-making and learning to seek and honour God when we're in conflict, lest we glorify someone or something else.
This Sunday we're jumping back into our "Peace with Others" Series using the Resolving Everyday Conflict study from Peacemaker Ministries. Join us as we continue on this discipleship journey exploring new ways to reflect the beauty of the Kingdom of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The First “G” How Conflicts In Your Life Can Be Used to Glorify God 
In dealing well with conflict there are  Four “G”s...

• Glorify God – 1 Corinthians 10:31

• Go and Be Reconciled – Matthew 5:24 

James: 3:18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
PRAYER FOR A DIFFERENT HARVEST: How to Glorify God in conflict.
The glory of God is man fully alive.  - Irenaeus, early Church Father (died c. 200)
TAKEWAYS: Four Things to do according to the Bible and Jesus Life and Teachings.

1. Trust in God. 
2. Obey God. – Serve others
3. Imitate God. – Grow in Christ likeness
4. Acknowledge God.

FINAL WORD: If you don’t glorify God when you are in conflict, you will glorify someone or something else.  By your actions you will show that you have a big God or that you have a big self and big problems.
SOME HELPFUL QUESTIONS:
How can I please and honour god in this situation?
How can I lift up Jesus, showing that He is alive in me, changing me?
Pleasing the heart of the Father sets the stage for effective peace-making.  The glory of God revealed in you and me, is necessary for Biblical peace-making.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION AND DISCUSSION
(From Resolving Everyday Conflict Participant Guide)

1. ​What inconsistencies did you notice in the parents' behavior when they were getting ready for church?
   What better example could they have set for their kids?
2. What happens when celebrities are "glorified"? Are they "worshipped"? Put on a pedestal? Exalted as role models? 
   Contrast this with what it means to glorify God.
3. Describe what a "peaceful and flourishing" relationship might look like between two people.
   Why do you think these types of relationships are important to God? Why do you think God wants to have this type of relationship with us?
4. How should the presence of the Holy Spirit in our hearts spill over in the ways we relate with other people?
5. Picture yourself standing before God, where you are giving an account of a particular conflict in your life.
   After reviewing the situation, the Lord says to you, "I was pleased with the way you handled that situation."
   Would that be meaningful to you? If so, why?
   What adjustments might you need to make, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to one day hear these words from the Lord?
