Our Networks
Further Accountability and Networking
We are affiliated with the NABC (NAB) North American Baptist Conference
The NABC is our denominational (Conference) and historic Baptist connection. It is a big tent theologically, rooted in German Pietism. Our pastors hold credentials through the local church and are granted through the vetting the BC Association of North American Baptists. They also adhere to the NAB Statement of Beliefs (in the Baptist way of using confessions as guides) and are required to abide by the Code of Ministerial Ethics.
DISCLAIMER: As with many churches we work with networks/partnerships beyond our denomination. These are not the same as a denomination, nor does it mean we agree with all other churches in a more loosely structured network. examples are groups like Alpha Course, Orange, Global Leadership Network, Jesus Collective, 24-7 Prayer Canada, etc. Everyone of them has belief statements as well. These relationships are pragmatic for ministry networking, partnership, vision, etc. Our involvement does not imply agreement with what every other in such networks lives/teaches, that is the SAME with our NAB denominational network.
Jesus Collective combines a bold vision with a gentle, irenic voice for the Jesus Way. We value the Jesus-centred theology, but also the practical focus on leadership formation, support for women in pastoral leadership, and the opportunity to unite with others who care deeply about bringing Jesus’ love to our communities and our world. -Ken Shigematsu, Senior Pastor Tenth Church, Vancouver, BC
We are a partner church with the Jesus Collective https://jesuscollective.com/
Pilgrim Church is a partner church with the Jesus Collective, a group of Jesus followers who believe the time is right to unite, equip, and amplify a movement that is all about Jesus. We believe a more connected, relational network of churches and leaders could give greater unity, voice, and visibility to this Jesus-centred, third-way movement, develop and support future-ready leaders, and equip more churches to make more disciples in a post-Christian context.
Jesus Collective is a centred-set community, with Jesus as our centre. This means that while we take our shared theological core seriously, our goal is to go beyond simply ‘believing the right things’. We are a relational network seeking to live, share, and call others to the Jesus Way, remembering that Jesus identified those who love him as those who obey his teachings. The orientation of our hearts – and our ongoing movement – towards the person of Jesus as the central focal point of our faith and life is what defines and unites us as a network.
The Vision and Mission of Pilgrim Church aligns with much of the core convictions of Jesus Collective, you can read about them here: Our Core Faith Expressions
